FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1. What vehicles do you have available?
2. What size are your models?
They are 1/43 scale equaling 4 ¾ to 5
inches in length depending on the size of the real vehicle.
3. Do you offer other sizes?
No, we have only 1/43 scale models.
4. How much detail is in a 1/43 scale model?
Modern design and manufacturing
technology allows for extremely high detail in 1/43 scale. Grilles, hubcaps and
interiors feature a level of detail that was once only available in larger
sizes. In fact, our 1/43 scale models offer more detail and refinement than many
larger 1/24th scale police models. Our models are not toys but highly detailed
adult collectibles featuring many small parts.
5. How many models are required for an order?
Our models are factory produced
therefore there are production minimums. The preferred production quantity is
504 models. We can do 312 but the price increases considerably.
6. Is there any way you can make a lower quantity or even just
one?
No, because these are factory produced
the above minimums are required.
7. Can you make a sample of our car before we commit to doing
the project?
No, much of the expense and time required to make a model is in the development process therefore we cannot commit to make just one model. However, we will be glad to supply you with a sample of an existing model we’ve produced so you can examine our quality and detail.
8. How are the models packaged?
Each model comes in an individual
display case with clear plastic cover and black base. The departments name or
other text of your choice can be printed on the base provided it fits in the
available space.
9. What is the process to have a model made?
First, we need good photographs taken
to our requirements. The following link shows how they should be taken. We can
provide further details once you commit to a project.

for an outline featuring how to take the needed photos.
Next, from the photos line art will be created. This is the critical foundation
of the model. A copy of this will be provided to you via email for review and
comment. Once this is accepted a prototype will be created.
Initial review of the prototype is examined by jpegs sent from the factory.
These will be provided to you for review. Any corrections are noted at this time
and corrected before a physical sample is provided. The goal of this ongoing
review process is for the sample to represent the final approved model.
10. We have different vehicles in our fleet. Can we split the
order between two different types of vehicles to meet the minimum order
quantity?
Unfortunately no, the stampings that apply your department’s markings to the body of the model cannot be used on a different shaped body. For example, the stampings used to apply the graphics to a Dodge Charger won’t apply properly to a Ford Crown Victoria.
11. Are decals used to make your models?
No, this is a common misperception. The markings on factory made models are applied by a process known as tampo printing. A high precision machine applies the markings by imprinting them on the body with extremely fast drying inks and paints.
12. Can individual badge or other numbers be placed on each model?
Unfortunately no, this would require a different stamping to be made and set up for each model that simply isn’t possible in factory production.
13. What is the turnaround time required to make the models?
Once you’ve committed to the project with your deposit and we have adequate photos the time frame runs from 120 to 180 days. Much of this depends on how quickly we receive your deposit and useable photos and when we can work your project into production.
14. How much does it cost and what are your terms?
The prices vary by the quantity ordered and in some case the type of vehicle being made. Please contact info@firstresponsereplicas.com for further information.
15. Are there any other costs such as set up or samples fees?
All costs related to developing and manufacturing are included in the cost you’ll be quoted. There are no additional costs for the models. The only additional cost is for actual shipping charges from our facility in Kentucky to your location.
16. We simply cannot
handle the quantities required. Is there anything we can do to have our cars
made?
In some cases we may consider splitting the order
with you if your vehicles design is one we think can be marketed beyond the
interest from your department. This still requires a deposit from you. To
discuss this possibility please contact
info@firstresponsereplicas.com.
Please note: If you are doing this as a fund raiser we can advertise your model
on our website with your contact information for sales. This way you can reach
the large collector market.
